Bilari, Uttar Pradesh: Bilari Sugarcane Committee chairman Vijaypal Singh has demanded payment of pending sugarcane dues from the local sugar mill. He had submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath regarding the issue, following which the Chief Minister’s Office has asked the Bilari Sugarcane Committee office for details of the outstanding cane dues and the committee’s unpaid contributions, reports Amar Ujala.
On August 6, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited Pipli village in Bilari block to inaugurate the first academic session of the newly built Atal Residential School. During the visit, committee chairman Vijaypal Singh met the Chief Minister and handed him a memorandum outlining farmers’ demands. These included the early release of pending cane payments from Bilari Sugar Mill, a special plan for sugarcane crop development, and the recovery of the committee’s outstanding contribution from the mill.
According to Singh, both the Chief Minister’s Office in Lucknow and the office of the Cane Commissioner have issued letters to the Bilari Sugarcane Committee seeking details of pending farmer payments from sugar mills.
R.K. Pathak, special secretary of the Bilari committee, confirmed that the government has also sought a report on the unpaid development contributions owed by sugar mills to the committee.
As per the committee’s records, Bilari Sugar Mill alone owes nearly ₹43 crore in pending payments to sugarcane farmers.
