Boost for sugarcane sector: ₹7 crore released for road repairs ahead of crushing season

Pilibhit: With the sugarcane season approaching, Union Minister of State and MP Jitin Prasad has welcomed the release of an additional ₹7.12 crore for road development in his parliamentary constituency, ensuring that ongoing works ahead of the crushing season will face no delays, reports Live Hindustan.

The sugar mills in the district, comprising two government and two private units, are expected to begin operations in November 2025. Farmers supply their sugarcane to these mills, and proper road connectivity is crucial for smooth transportation. Officials had been waiting for the release of funds to repair and upgrade these roads.

The additional allocation covers nearly 25 road projects, enabling construction and repair work to continue without any interruption. Posting on X, Jitin Prasad expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for releasing the funds for his constituency.

With the ₹7.12 crore now available, the pace of construction work will accelerate across key routes, including: Jehanabad, Barkheda, Mudiya Hulas, Siyabadi Patti, Bisalpur Radhaita, Bisalpur Chausra, Chausra Bhasuda, Dahgala Jangrauli Simaria, Bhuda Kaimor, Kheda Gram to Kurri, Pilibhit Arjunpur, Ghungchai Dampura, Assam Road Kuraiya, Nawada Shyampur Dalelganj, Mainakot Mandi Chaukhapuri, Jehanabad Amariya, Rafiapur Deen Nagar, Bhikhari Pur Sikalpur, Bhikhari Pur Uganpur, Majhola Sitarangj Bhindara, and Duyani Baraj Surajpur villages.

Officials confirmed that none of these works will be stalled due to a lack of funds, ensuring smooth road connectivity for farmers during the sugarcane crushing season.
