Bulandshahr: Agauta sugar mill to see increased sugarcane crushing capacity

Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh: In a good news for sugarcane farmers, the Agauta sugar mill will see increase daily crushing capacity by 20,000 quintals. Earlier, the mill could process 50,000 quintals of cane per day, but now it will handle up to 70,000 quintals, reported Amar Ujala.

District Cane Officer (DCO) Anil Kumar Bharti said that four sugar mills are operational in the district — Anupshahr, Wave, Agauta, and Sabitgarh. Among them, Sabitgarh leads with the highest capacity. The Anupshahr mill processes 25,000 quintals daily, while Wave handles about 35,000 quintals. With the recent upgrade, Agauta will now match closely with Sabitgarh in terms of crushing capacity.

DCO added that cane registration for farmers is progressing swiftly and surveys of sugarcane fields have already been completed. This season, the district is expecting a bumper crop, with more than 84,000 hectares under sugarcane cultivation.

Preparations are in full swing for the 2025–26 crushing season. All four mills are carrying out repair and maintenance work, which is now in its final stages. The DCO said that official letters have already been issued to mills to ensure timely completion of repairs. Bulandshahr is among the leading districts in cane production, and with the new season approaching, mills are gearing up for operations.
