Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh: Farmers in the district are placing greater trust in sugarcane cultivation, drawn by the higher profit margins. As a result, the area under sugarcane cultivation has increased this year by 4,228 hectares compared to the previous year, reported Amar Ujala.
According to the recently completed crop survey, sugarcane has been sown on 83,210 hectares of land across the district this year. Last year, the crop covered 78,982 hectares, marking a substantial increase that reflects a shift in farmers’ preferences. The growing focus on sugarcane is also leading to a decline in the cultivation of other crops such as jowar, wheat, bajra, and maize.
District Sugarcane Officer Anil Kumar Bharti confirmed that following the completion of the sugarcane crop survey, department officials are now working on satta.
Soon, sugar mill staff will visit villages to show the survey findings to farmers, allowing them to verify the area recorded for their crop. “This year, sugarcane acreage has increased by 4,228 hectares, reflecting the crop’s rising popularity among farmers,” Bharti said.
