Bundaki sugar mill tops in the recovery rate in the region

Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh: Sugarcane grown in Bijnor district is sweeter this year compared to last season, with recovery improving by 0.4 to 1 per cent. In terms of recovery, Bundki Sugar Mill currently ranks first in region. The mill’s on-date recovery stands at 10.13 per cent (B-heavy). Officials said that if the mill were not producing B-heavy, its recovery would increase by nearly 1.5 per cent, reports Live Hindustan.

Five sugar mills from Bijnor have made it to the state’s top ten in recovery performance. Among cooperative sugar mills, Najibabad Sugar Mill holds the first position in Uttar Pradesh with an on-date recovery of 11.02 per cent (C-heavy). The district has sugarcane cultivation spread across approximately 2.5 lakh hectares.

Compared to last year, sugarcane in the current season is noticeably sweeter, recording an increase of 0.4 to 1 per cent in sweetness levels. This improvement has helped place Bundki, Dhampur, Barkatpur, Afzalgarh, and Najibabad sugar mills among the state’s top performers. Bundki Sugar Mill leads the list with an on-date recovery of 10.13 per cent, reflecting strong efforts by farmers and sugar mill teams across the district.

District Cane Officer P.N. Singh said that Najibabad Sugar Mill ranks first among cooperative sugar mills in the state, with a recovery rate of 11.02 per cent while producing C-heavy. He explained that five sugar mills in the district—Bundki, Dhampur, Afzalgarh, Barkatpur and Najibabad—are now in the state’s top ten for recovery.

Singh noted that Bundki, Dhampur, Afzalgarh and Barkatpur mills are producing B-heavy, while Najibabad is producing C-heavy. He added that producing B-heavy and C-heavy lowers the recovery rate of sugar mills by up to 1.5 per cent.

P.N. Singh, DCO Bijnor, said, “Bundki Sugar Mill ranks first in the state in on-date recovery with 10.13 per cent (B-heavy). Producing B-heavy reduces recovery by about 1.5 per cent. Five district mills—Bundki, Dhampur, Barkatpur, Najibabad and Afzalgarh—are in the state’s top ten. Among cooperative mills, Najibabad ranks first with 11.02 per cent recovery. Producing B-heavy and C-heavy reduces recovery by up to 1.5 per cent.”
