Speaking at the “Bundi Ke Ratna 2025” awards hosted by First India News in Bundi, Rajasthan Energy Minister Heeralal Nagar said on Thursday that the district has vast growth potential and is poised to become the state’s next major ethanol hub.
Last year, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, speaking at an event in Rajasthan, urged farmers in Sri Ganganagar to resume cultivating sugar beet, not for sugar production, but for ethanol. He also highlighted the benefits of incentivizing ethanol production, stating that it has the potential to significantly boost farmers’ incomes.
In October 2025, ethanol blending in petrol reached 20 per cent in India, while cumulative blending from November 2024 to October 2025 stood at 19.2 per cent during Ethanol Supply Year (ESY) 2024-25.
According to data from the Petroleum Planning & Analysis Cell (PPAC), ethanol received by PSU OMCs under the EBP programme in October 2025 was 98.2 crore litres, with a cumulative total of 1,003.1 crore litres from November 2024 to October 2025. Ethanol blended under the programme in October 2025 amounted to 93.2 crore litres, taking the total to 1,022.4 crore litres November 2024 to October 2025.
