Bhopal: Highlighting the government’s focus on increasing farmers’ income, Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister and Balod district in-charge minister Vijay Sharma said that this year a target has been set to cultivate sugarcane on 3,000 hectares in the district, reports Krishak Jagat.
He held a comprehensive review meeting with officials of all departments at the Joint District Office.
He directed the management of the Karkabhath Sugar Factory and the agriculture department to begin necessary preparations for achieving this target.
Minister Sharma described sugarcane farming as a key tool for improving the financial condition and standard of living of farmers. He reiterated his instruction to expand sugarcane cultivation to 3,000 hectares this year. The Managing Director of the Karkabhath Sugar Factory and the Deputy Director of Agriculture have been asked to take all necessary steps to ensure this.
He also urged efforts to encourage farmers to grow sugarcane and to support them in becoming financially self-reliant. Sharma reiterated that all development schemes should be implemented within deadlines and with quality to ensure meaningful impact.
