Raipur: Sugarcane farmers in Chhattisgarh have received a fresh payment of Rs 5.97 crore, bringing relief to growers during the Chaitra Navratri festival, Punjab Kesari reported.
The amount was released by Bhoramdev Cooperative Sugar Factory Maryadit at Ramhepur, with officials crediting the efforts of Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma for facilitating the disbursement.
With this, the total payment made by the factory to sugarcane farmers has reached Rs 57.48 crore so far, leading to a positive response among growers in the region.
Officials said the payment process is continuing under the supervision of District Collector Gopal Verma, who is also serving as the authorised officer of the factory. They added that regular payments have helped strengthen farmers’ confidence in the cooperative system.
According to the factory management, consistent disbursement is supporting both farmers’ financial stability and smooth functioning of the mill.
During the ongoing crushing season, the factory has crushed around 2.55 lakh metric tonnes of sugarcane and produced about 3.09 lakh quintals of sugar. Officials said the performance reflects improved coordination between farmers and the mill management.
The factory has also been providing various facilities to farmers and workers to support operations.
