Congress raises sugar mills issue ahead of assembly polls in Bihar

Patna, Bihar: Congress has raised the issue of closed sugar mills in Bihar ahead of the upcoming assembly elections, accusing the government of neglecting the mill revial issue.

The Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge while delivering his opening remarks at the meeting of the Extended Congress Working Committee in Patna alleged that the Prime Minister had promised on numerous occasions to revive Bihar’s sugar industry. But even ten years later, his promise remains unfulfilled.

“On the domestic front, Modi visited Bihar 10 times this year and 55 times as Prime Minister. He promised to reopen closed sugar mills and even claimed he would drink tea with sugar from them. Yet, not a single sugar mill has been reopened. His promises are as empty as the claim of providing employment to two crore youths,” Mallikarjun Kharge said.

Sugar mills remain a recurring issue in every election in the state.
