Domestic Market
Domestic sugar prices were traded weak
After trading steady for the four consecutive sessions, domestic sugar prices were reported to be weaker by Rs 5-10 per quintal across the major markets. According to the sources, demand appears to be muted, putting downward pressure on prices. As demand remains subdued, sentiment is said to be deteriorating.
After a heavy rainfall activity during the last week over the major cane growing regions of Maharashtra and Karnataka, the intensity has come down and is expected to remain so for a week. Drier weather after a heavy rainfall is likely to prove beneficial for the crop development.
M-grade sugar costs between Rs 3,940 and Rs 4,050 per quintal in Muzaffarnagar, while S-grade sugar costs between Rs 3,720 and Rs 3,780 in Kolhapur.
