Domestic sugar prices were stable
Domestic sugar prices were reported mostly stable across the major growing states. According to the sources, demand appears to be muted, putting downward pressure on prices. As demand remains subdued, sentiment is said to be deteriorating.
After a heavy rainfall activity during the last week over the major cane growing regions of Maharashtra and Karnataka, the intesity has come down and is expected to remain so for a week. Drier weather after a heavy rainfall is likely to prove beneficial for the crop development.
M-grade sugar costs between Rs 3,940 and Rs 4,050 per quintal in Muzaffarnagar, while S-grade sugar costs between Rs 3,720 and Rs 3,780 in Kolhapur.

At the time of writing this update London White Sugar #5 front month contract is trading at $470.90 ton, whereas the New York Sugar #11 front month contract is trading at 16.81 c/lb. The corn futures market trades at 441-2 and the ethanol Chicago trades at 1.73500s
Currency, Commodity & Indian Indices
The rupee traded against the US dollar at 85.558 whereas USD was trading with BRL at 5.7015 Crude WTI traded at $63.45 barrel. Sensex closed 636.24 points down at 80,737.51 whereas Nifty closed 174.10points lower at 24,542.50
