Domestic Market

Domestic sugar prices were reported mixed

Domestic sugar prices in the major markets were reported to be mixed and weak, with prices falling by Rs 5-10 per quintal in Maharashtra and Karnataka. Firm sentiments were observed in Uttar Pradesh and other North Indian states. According to market participants, demand is need-based, despite lower quotas, which have kept prices in a range for the last 8-10 sessions.

The price of S-grade sugar in Kolhapur ranges from Rs 3,775 to Rs 3,825 per quintal, while M-grade sugar in Muzaffarnagar costs between Rs 4,030 and Rs 4,080.

International Market

At the time of writing this update London White Sugar #5 front month contract is trading at $542.20 ton, whereas the New York Sugar #11 front month contract is trading at 18.98c/lb. The corn futures market trades at 452-2 and the ethanol Chicago trades at 1.78500s

Currency, Commodity & Indian Indices

The rupee traded against the US dollar at 85.381whereas USD was trading with BRL at 5.6062 Crude WTI traded at $61.90 barrel. Sensex closed 930.67 points down at 75365.69 whereas Nifty closed 345.65 points lower at 22904.45
