Weak sentiment continued in domestic sugar prices

Domestic sugar prices were reported to be mostly weak across the major growing states. Prices have fallen by Rs 5-10 per quintal in the major centres. According to the sources, the price fall was more in Uttar Pradesh as compared with Maharashtra and Karnataka. As quota allocation was more in Uttar Pradesh which is continued to weigh on the prices.

Demand appears to be muted, putting downward pressure on prices. As demand remains subdued, sentiment is said to be deteriorating.

M-grade sugar costs between Rs 3,920 and Rs 4,030 per quintal in Muzaffarnagar, while S-grade sugar costs between Rs 3,715 and Rs 3,770 in Kolhapur.
