Domestic sugar price remained steady
Domestic sugar prices are holding firm near a three-month high. Traders are positioning ahead of two key expectations: a possible upward revision in the sugar MSP and increasing chatter that national production could fall short of earlier projections, especially in Maharashtra and Karnataka.
In northern India, prices remain steady at Muzaffarnagar, where M-grade sugar is quoted at ₹4,030–₹4,140 per quintal, unchanged from the previous session. Western markets are showing a similar tone. At Kolhapur — a key benchmark for S-grade sugar — prices are ruling at ₹3,690–₹3,780 per quintal, also steady on the day. Despite Maharashtra being one of the states where output concerns are most pronounced, near-term physical availability still appears comfortable, which is preventing any abrupt price spike for now.
