Domestic Market

Sugar prices were mostly stable

Domestic sugar prices were reported to be mostly stable across the major markets. Demand is said to be need based and lower monthly quota keeping demand and supply balanced which is keeping prices in the broader range. Despite the lower monthly quota subdued demand is keeping prices under control.

In Kolhapur, S-grade sugar costs between Rs 3,790 and Rs 3,850 per quintal, while M-grade sugar costs between Rs 3,990 and Rs 4,120 in Muzaffarnagar.

International Market

At the time of writing this update London White Sugar #5 front month contract is trading at $500.80 ton, whereas the New York Sugar #11 front month contract is trading at 17.78 c/lb. The corn futures market trades at 440-6 and the ethanol Chicago trades at 1.71000s

Currency, Commodity & Indian Indices

The rupee traded against the US dollar at 85.384 whereas USD was trading with BRL at 5.6857 Crude WTI traded at $61.08 barrel. Sensex closed 880.34 points down at 79454.47 whereas Nifty closed 265.80 points lower at 24008.00
