Domestic Market

Weak sentiment witnessed in domestic sugar prices

Domestic sugar prices continue to trade lower in the major markets on sluggish off take. Prices dropped by Rs 5-10 per quintal across the markets. Demand appears to be weak, which is putting downward pressure on prices. Demand remains low, and sentiment seems to be deteriorating.

M-grade sugar costs between Rs 3,880 and Rs 4,000 per quintal in Muzaffarnagar, and S-grade sugar costs between Rs 3,710 and Rs 3,760 in Kolhapur.

International Market

At the time of writing this update London White Sugar #5 front month contract is trading at $471.50 ton, whereas the New York Sugar #11 front month contract is trading at 16.51 c/lb. The corn futures market trades at 444-4 and the ethanol Chicago trades at 1.66500s

Currency, Commodity & Indian Indices

The rupee traded against the US dollar at 85.408 whereas USD was trading with BRL at 5.5400 Crude WTI traded at $66.11 barrel. Sensex closed 123.42 points up at 82515.14 whereas Nifty closed 37.15 points higher at 25141.40
