Domestic Market
Weak sentiment continued in domestic sugar prices
Domestic sugar prices continue to trade lower in the major markets on sluggish off take. Prices dropped by Rs 5-10 per quintal across the markets. Demand appears to be weak, which is putting downward pressure on prices. Demand remains low, and sentiment seems to be deteriorating.
Meanwhile, after a pause for brief period good rainfall activity was reported over the major cane growing regions and rains are expected to continue over the next week. Rainfall activity after drier weather is likely to prove beneficial for crop development.
M-grade sugar costs between Rs 3,880 and Rs 3,980 per quintal in Muzaffarnagar, and S-grade sugar costs between Rs 3,710 and Rs 3,750 in Kolhapur.

International Market
At the time of writing this update London White Sugar #5 front month contract is trading at $467.60 ton, whereas the New York Sugar #11 front month contract is trading at 16.31 c/lb. The corn futures market trades at 440-2 and the ethanol Chicago trades at 1.65250s
Currency, Commodity & Indian Indices
The rupee traded against the US dollar at 85.521 whereas USD was trading with BRL at 5.5265 Crude WTI traded at $67.16 barrel. Sensex closed 823.16 points down at 81691.98 whereas Nifty closed 253.20 points lower at 24888.20
