Daily Sugar Market Update By Vizzie – 15/12/2025

Domestic Market
Domestic sugar prices started to fall again

Domestic sugar prices have weakened again, weighed down by ample availability arising from the steady progress of the crushing season. With operations running smoothly across major producing states, buyers have continued to remain cautious, factoring in comfortable supply levels over the coming weeks. This expectation has kept overall market sentiment on the softer side.

According to the latest update from the NFCSF, Indian sugar production as of 15 December 2025 has reached 7.8 MMT, marking an increase of about 8.6% year on year. The higher output has been supported by improved cane crushing volumes and better sucrose recovery. Average sugar recovery has been reported at 8.64%, with 479 mills currently in operation during the ongoing season.

Spot prices in key physical markets reflected this mild downward pressure. In Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, M-grade sugar was quoted in the range of ₹3,950–₹4,050 per quintal. Meanwhile, in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, S-grade sugar traded slightly lower at ₹3,630–₹3,690 per quintal, extending the gradual decline observed in recent sessions.
