Daily Sugar Market Update By Vizzie -16/08/2025

Domestic Market
Domestic sugar prices were mostly stable

Domestic sugar prices in India continue to remain firm, trading at multi-year highs due to lower production and strong demand, which has resulted in a tighter market balance sheet. With good demand and restricted supplies prevailing, domestic sugar prices are anticipated to remain elevated in the near term, especially as the market awaits the beginning of the new crushing cycle.

The favorable crop conditions are attributed to good rainfall across the major sugarcane-growing regions, and reports suggest the crop outlook is very positive. In Karnataka and Maharashtra, sugar mills are expected to begin their crushing activities after Diwali, likely in the first week of November, marking the start of the new season.

Currently, M-grade sugar is priced between ₹3,990 and ₹4,100 per quintal in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, while S-grade sugar in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, is quoted at ₹3,875 to ₹3,910 per quintal.
