Domestic Market

Domestic sugar prices reported steady to higher

Domestic sugar prices were said to be stable to higher for the third session. Kolhapur prices were reported to be stable, while Uttar Pradesh prices were reported to be higher by Rs 10 per quintal. The demand is reported to be average, and crop prospects are reported to be very good.

In Muzaffarnagar, M-grade sugar costs between Rs 3,790 and Rs 3,850 per quintal, while S-grade costs between Rs 3,575 and Rs 3,640 in Kolhapur. Agrimandi predicts that in the upcoming days, the price of S-grade sugar in Kolhapur will drop to between Rs 3,500 and Rs 3,650 per quintal.

At the time of writing this update London White Sugar #5 front month contract is trading at $524.10 ton, whereas the New York Sugar #11 front month contract is trading at 19.22 c/lb.

Currency, Commodity & Indian Indices

The rupee traded against the US dollar at 83.758 whereas USD was trading with BRL at 5.5100, Crude futures traded at โ‚น5852, Crude WTI traded at $68.77 barrel. Sensex closed 90.88 points higher at 83079.66 whereas Nifty closed 34.80 points higher at 25418.55
