Daily Sugar Market Update By Vizzie – 17/11/2025

ChiniMandi, Mumbai: 17th Nov 2025

Domestic Market
Domestic sugar prices were stable to weak

Domestic sugar prices traded stable to slightly weak across major markets, as buying remained largely need-based and overall demand continued to be subdued. With the sugarcane crushing season now underway in most producing states, market sentiment remains under pressure, and prices are expected to stay soft in the near term. Muzaffarnagar reported a decline of ₹10–20 per quintal, whereas markets in Maharashtra and North Karnataka held steady without notable movement.

The sugarcane crushing season has begun actively, and the latest fortnightly update from the National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories Limited (NFCSF) indicates a sharp increase in mill participation. A total of 325 mills have started crushing operations, significantly higher than 144 mills during the same period last year. Consequently, total cane crushed has risen to 128 lakh metric tonnes (LMT), compared with 91 LMT a year ago. Sugar production has also improved to 10.50 LMT, up from 7.10 LMT last season, while the average recovery rate stands at 8.2%, better than last year’s 7.80%.

In key regional markets, M-grade sugar in Muzaffarnagar (Uttar Pradesh) was quoted at ₹3,980–4,070 per quintal, reflecting the mild decline in prices. Meanwhile, S-grade sugar in Kolhapur (Maharashtra) traded in the range of ₹3,730–3,760 per quintal, maintaining a stable tone.
