Domestic Market
Domestic sugar prices were mostly stable
Domestic sugar prices in India continue to remain firm, trading at multi-year highs due to lower production and strong demand, which has resulted in a tighter market balance sheet. With good demand and restricted supplies prevailing, domestic sugar prices are anticipated to remain elevated in the near term, especially as the market awaits the beginning of the new crushing cycle.
There are reports of floods over cane growing regions of Uttar Pradesh during last 2-3 days which may damage the plantation in canal bank and low lying areas. Red rot disease infestaion is reported over Western regions of Uttar Pradesh, the impact will be known later.
