Domestic Market
Domestic sugar prices traded higher

Domestic sugar prices reported higher in today’s trading session in the major markets. As there is news of increased MSP had led to higher prices. According to market sources, the Indian government is likely to increase the minimum selling price (MSP) of sugar from the current ₹31 per kg to around ₹37–38 per kg. Sources further indicate that an official notification regarding the MSP hike is expected early next week.

In Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, M-grade sugar was quoted in the range of ₹3,900–₹4,030 per quintal, higher by Rs 20-30 per quintal. Meanwhile, in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, S-grade sugar traded at ₹3,550–₹3,600 per quintal around higher by Rs 20 per quintal.

International Market

At the time of writing this update London White Sugar #The 5 front month contract is trading at $426.70ton, whereas the New York Sugar # 11 The front month contract is trading at 14.96 c/lb. The corn futures market trades at 424-6 and the ethanol Chicago trades at 1.54000s.

Currency, Commodity & Indian Indices

The rupee traded against the US dollar at 90.873 whereas USD was trading with BRL at 5.3736 Crude WTI traded at $58.96 a barrel. Sensex closed 324.17 points down at 83,246.18 whereas Nifty closed 108.85 points lower at 25,585.50.
