Domestic Market

Domestic sugar prices were stable to higher

Domestic sugar prices across major markets remained stable to higher with prices remaining stable in Maharashtra and North Karnataka while prices rose in Uttar Pradesh. Arrival of new sugar is supporting the sentiment in North Markets while subdued buying activity continued to weigh in Maharashtra markets.

A discussion is underway regarding an upward revision of sugar MSP, and a decision is likely soon. According to industry sources, millers are pushing for an MSP of ₹40–41 per kg, whereas market indications suggest that the revised MSP may be set around ₹36–37 per kg.

In the key physical markets, M-grade sugar in Muzaffarnagar (Uttar Pradesh) was quoted in the range of ₹4,000–4,090 per quintal. In Kolhapur (Maharashtra), S-grade sugar traded between ₹3,720–3,750 per quintal, reflecting a largely stable price trend.
