Domestic Market

Domestic sugar prices continue to rise

After trading stable to weak over the last one month, domestic sugar prices inched higher by another Rs 20-30 per quintal across the major markets for the second consecutive session. Prices were reported to be higher by Rs 10-20 per quintal across the major markets of Uttar Pradesh, and by Rs 25-30 per quintal in Maharashtra, and Karnataka markets.

Demand is said to be good in today’s session as prices are trading at three month low and stocks left with the millers are depleting. As the festive begins from next month demand is likely to remain higher moving forward.

M-grade sugar prices between Rs 3,870 and Rs 3,940 a quintal in Muzaffarnagar, and S-grade sugar costs between Rs 3,750 and Rs 3,780 in Kolhapur.

International Market

At the time of writing this update London White Sugar #5 front month contract is trading at $480.20 ton, whereas the New York Sugar #The 11 front month contract is trading at 16.53 c/lb. The corn futures market trades at 407-2 and the ethanol Chicago trades at 1.77000s

Currency, Commodity & Indian Indices

The rupee traded against the US dollar at 86.288 whereas USD was trading with BRL at 5.5768 Crude WTI traded at $65.95 barrel. Sensex closed 442.61 points up at 82,200.34 whereas Nifty closed 122.30 points higher at 25,090.70..
