Domestic Market
Domestic sugar prices were stable to weak

Domestic sugar prices in the major markets were reported to be stable or weak. Prices fell by Rs 10-20 per quintal in the major North Indian markets, while they remained steady in Maharashtra and Karnataka for the second session.

Good rainfall activity has continued in the major cane-growing regions of Maharashtra and Karnataka, and monsoon activity is expected to remain heavy in Uttar Pradesh. Rainfall activity is likely to promote crop development.

M-grade sugar costs between Rs 3,880 and Rs 3,940 per quintal in Muzaffarnagar, whereas S-grade sugar costs between Rs 3,700 and Rs 3,740 in Kolhapur.

International Market

At the time of writing this update London White Sugar #5 front month contract is trading at $471.50 ton, whereas the New York Sugar #11 front month contract is trading at 16.15 c/lb. The corn futures market trades at 418-2 and the ethanol Chicago trades at 1.65000s

Currency, Commodity & Indian Indices

The rupee traded against the US dollar at 86.081 whereas USD was trading with BRL at 5.4995 Crude WTI traded at $65.89 barrel. Sensex closed 158.32 points up at 82,055.11 whereas Nifty closed 72.45 points higher at 25,044.35
