Domestic prices traded higher on expected lower production
Domestic sugar prices moved higher by about тВ╣5-10 per quintal in todayтАЩs session across major spot markets, recovering after the recent mild correction. Firmness in prices is mainly attributed to expectations of lower domestic production, which continue to lend support to market sentiment.
The Indian Sugar Mills Association (ISMA), in its third production estimate, pegged net sugar output at 29.3 MMT, reflecting downward revisions due to weaker-than-expected production in Maharashtra, Karnataka, and other minor producing states. Meanwhile, sugar exports are projected at around 0.7 MMT, constrained by relatively lower global prices.
In North India, the M-grade sugar market in Muzaffarnagar was quoted in the range of тВ╣4,030тАУтВ╣4,130 per quintal, indicating a rise of Rs 5-10 per quintal. In western India, S-grade sugar prices in Kolhapur were reported at тВ╣3,690тАУтВ╣3,730 per quintal, reflecting improved buying support.

International Market
At the time of writing this update London White Sugar #The 5 front month contract is trading at $407.90 ton, whereas the New York Sugar # 11 The front month contract is trading at 14.60 c/lb. The corn futures market trades at 432-2 and the ethanol Chicago trades at 1.68000s.
Currency, Commodity & Indian Indices
The rupee traded against the US dollar at 90.916 whereas USD was trading with BRL at 5.1251 Crude WTI traded at $64.30 a barrel. Sensex closed 27.46 points down at 82,248.61 whereas Nifty closed 14.05 points higher at 25,496.55
