Daily Sugar Market Update By Vizzie – 27/12/2025

ChiniMandi, Mumbai: 27th Dec 2025

Domestic Market
Domestic sugar prices were mostly stable

Domestic sugar prices remained largely steady across key regions for the second consecutive session, reflecting a cautious market environment. Trade sources indicated that demand continues to be strictly need-based, as crushing operations are progressing smoothly across major producing states, ensuring comfortable supply availability. Additionally, the widening gap between lower export realizations and relatively higher domestic price levels is expected to keep overall market sentiment under pressure in the near term.

Meanwhile, the Food Ministry has announced the sugar quota for January 2026. According to the update, the quota has been fixed at 22 lakh tonnes, unchanged from both the previous month and the corresponding period last year. Trade participants noted that the allotted quota is adequate to meet domestic requirements, which is likely to help keep prices stable.

Spot prices in major physical markets mirrored this subdued tone. In Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, M-grade sugar was quoted in the range of ₹3,950–₹4,020 per quintal. Meanwhile, in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, S-grade sugar traded marginally lower at ₹3,610–₹3,660 per quintal, extending the gradual downward trend observed over the past few sessions.
