President Donald Trump increased pressure on two key U.S. trading partners, Japan and South Korea, by sending letters Monday to their leaders, notifying them of a new tariff rate.
According to posts on Truth Social where Trump shared the letters, both nations will be subject to a 25% tariff starting August 1, possibly allowing time for further negotiations.
The latest tariff announcement follows Trump’s statement that he would be sending letters to the leaders of a dozen countries on Monday.
