Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on October 26, 2025, inaugurated the “Kemet for Integrated Industries” ethanol production facility in the Sokhna Industrial Zone, part of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone). The PM underscored the government’s commitment to promoting value-added, technology-based industries and encouraging private sector participation.
Madbouly was joined at the opening ceremony by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel El-Wazir, Minister of Public Enterprises Mohamed Shimi, and SCZone Chairman Walid Gamal El-Din. The Prime Minister noted that such projects contribute to reducing import expenses and generating employment opportunities for young Egyptians.
Romani Nabil Emmanuel, Chairman of the plant, stated that the $4 million facility covers 1,575 square meters within the Oriental Industrial Projects (OIP) industrial city. It produces high-purity ethanol at concentrations of 100%, 96%, and 70%, as well as industrial alcohol at 95%. The plant’s annual production capacity is approximately 2 million liters, providing 30 direct and 15 indirect jobs.
Emmanuel added that the factory relies on locally sourced sugarcane and beet molasses to meet domestic demand for high-quality ethanol used in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and laboratory supplies. SCZone Chairman Walid Gamal El-Din highlighted that the project strengthens local manufacturing capabilities and demonstrates investor confidence in the zone’s modern infrastructure and business-friendly environment.
