Kawardha: After a long wait, farmers associated with the Pandariya Sugar Factory in Chhattisgarh’s Kawardha district have received a major relief with the release of Rs 20.27 crore into their bank accounts, reported Patrika.com.
The payment was made by the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Cooperative Sugar Factory in Pandariya to 5,333 sugarcane-growing farmers. The payment corresponds to the sugarcane crushing season of 2024–25, based on the Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP).
Managing Director of the factory, Uttam Kumar Kaushik, stated that during the 2024–25 season, sugarcane was procured from farmers at Rs 315.10 per quintal, and the total amount due to the farmers was Rs 47.31 crore. Of this, Rs 7.85 crore had already been paid earlier.
Additionally, a working capital loan of ₹16.36 crore from the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC), New Delhi, was also disbursed for the construction of the factory. From the remaining sugarcane payment amount of Rs 39.46 crore, Rs 20.27 crore was released on May 22, 2025, for cane supplied between December 6, 2025, and January 5, 2025, to 5,333 farmers at the FRP rate.
Kaushik assured that the remaining payment would also be cleared soon.
He credited the release of funds to the support of Mahendra Singh Savanni, Managing Director of the Mandi Board, and especially highlighted the efforts of Pandariya MLA Bhavana Bohra. Kaushik praised Bohra for her continuous engagement with government and administrative authorities to secure the farmers’ rightful payments.
MLA Bhavana Bohra emphasized that ensuring timely payment for the hard work of sugarcane farmers was her top priority. She regularly coordinated with the factory management, departmental officials, and senior government authorities to resolve obstacles in the payment process.
Bohra also assured farmers that the remaining dues would be paid shortly.
