Bathinda: The Food Corporation of India has procured 120 Lakh Metric Tonnes (LMT) of wheat in Punjab till Friday out of a fixed target of procuring 132 LMT, reports The Times of India.
It was suspected that the wheat procurement would be affected due to sudden rainfall and bad weather in the state in March and early April. The production as well as procurement of wheat are on the expected line and may miss the target by a small margin.
The total arrival of wheat crops in the grain markets of Punjab on Friday has reached 120.16 LMT and 119.79 or 99.70% out of it has already been procured.
The FCI had set a target of procuring 341.5 LMT wheat from across the country and has till April 30 procured 222.89 LMT.
