Floodwater enters Yamunanagar sugar mill in Haryana

Heavy overnight rainfall in Yamunanagar led to water enter in Saraswati Sugar Mills, officials said on Monday.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the district recorded 37.9 mm of rainfall, substantially higher than the usual 5.6 mm for this time of year.

Pumping equipment and workers were deployed immediately to remove the water. While the full extent of the impact is still being assessed, officials confirmed that operations have been affected.

Saraswati Sugar Mills is one of Asia’s largest sugar mills and procures sugarcane from farmers across Yamunanagar and nearby districts, including Ambala, Kurukshetra, Karnal, and Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh.
