Ethanol boost in Goa: CM Pramod Sawant lays foundation stone of 300 KLPD grain-based plant

Navelim (Goa): Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday laid the foundation stone for 300 KLPD (kiloliters per day) Ethanol Plant at Navelim Industrial area.

Speaking to ANI, CM Sawant said, “The state government is committed to the development of the state…Almost 200 people will get employment from this…Women will also get empowered and get jobs…”

“Among these initiatives is a pollution-free, eco-friendly ethanol production plant being established in Navelim village, Bicholim taluka,” said Sawant. “The project will benefit the local agricultural sector, create employment opportunities for residents, and supply cattle feed.” He also urged the local community to extend their support for the successful implementation of the project.

CM on Tuesday announced that the State government is actively introducing a range of green initiatives in Goa as part of its vision for a ‘Greener Goa, Stronger Goa, and Smarter Goa’.

Sawant made these remarks while laying the foundation stone for a 300 KLPD grain-based ethanol plant by Centreal Biofuels Limited at the Navelim Industrial Area in Bicholim. The event was attended by Navelim Sarpanch Rohidas Kansekal, Deputy Sarpanch Kalpana Gavas, Panchayat Member Gopal Surlkar, and Centreal Biofuels Limited Managing Director Joby George, among others.

He said, “The Plant shall create substantial direct and indirect employment opportunities for local residents. It will support Agriculture & Farmers as Grains will be procured directly from local farmers, thereby enhancing farm incomes and contributing to the rural economy. It is a Zero-Waste Initiative: By-products such as distillers grains will be repurposed as nutritious animal feed, reinforcing sustainable and environmentally responsible industrial practices.”

“I commend Centreal Biofuels for playing a proactive role in the socio-economic development of Goa through industrial investment, employment generation, rural upliftment, and environmental stewardship,” CM further added.
