Gohana, Haryana: Haryana Cooperation Minister Dr. Arvind Sharma on Thursday inaugurated the 25th crushing season (2025–26) of the Chaudhary Devi Lal Cooperative Sugar Mill in Gohana. Speaking at the event, he said the mill represents the dedication of farmers and serves as a key source of livelihood for thousands of families.
Dr. Sharma said the mill’s greatest strength lies in the hard work and trust of farmers. He added that the Haryana Government is focusing on timely payment to growers, improving mill performance, and adopting modern technology. During the previous crushing season, farmers across the state received ₹1,211 crore, including ₹80 crore from the Gohana mill and ₹103 crore from the Sonipat mill.
He said the online token system introduced in cooperative sugar mills has reduced waiting time for farmers. To address labour issues during harvesting, the government is speeding up the process of providing harvesting machines on subsidy in coordination with the Agriculture Department.
The minister instructed the mill management to ensure respectful treatment and proper facilities for farmers, employees, and workers, describing them as the backbone of the mill. He said the use of modern technology and improved management would help make the new crushing season more productive and beneficial.
Recalling his previous appeal to re-engage farmers who had stopped supplying cane, Dr. Sharma urged public representatives and the management to continue working toward this goal. He said the cooperative sector is vital to achieving the vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047,” and added that under Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s leadership, the Cooperation Department and the Sugar Federation are working to strengthen farmers’ prosperity.
