Chandigarh: Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana on Friday directed officials to ensure that sugarcane farmers receive their payments without delay and that all pending dues are cleared at the earliest.
Chairing a meeting with department officials, the minister focused on the unresolved payments for sugarcane growers linked to the Naraingarh sugar mill. He instructed that the issue be addressed promptly and stressed that sugarcane crushing operations at the mill should continue without any disruption.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Rana said, “The government is fully committed to safeguarding the interests of farmers. We are working to reduce farming costs while helping increase crop productivity.”
He also highlighted the state’s efforts to improve soil health by encouraging farmers to conduct soil tests before sowing. Quality seeds are being provided, and farmers are being made aware of the need to reduce dependence on chemical fertilisers.
Rana added that the government is promoting modern and diversified farming methods across the state. Farmers are being encouraged to move away from traditional practices, and those taking up fish farming or animal husbandry are receiving subsidies to support their ventures.
