Noida: In a joint operation, the Noida Special Task Force (STF) and Rehda Police raided a roadside eatery on the Haridwar-Kashipur highway on Thursday night and seized 20,000 liters of ethanol being illegally transported, reported Dainik Bhaskar.
Led by STF Inspector Sachin Kumar, the team conducted the raid at the “Maa Jagdamba Dhaba” and discovered a tanker filled with ethanol. In addition, police confiscated 760 liters of illegal liquor stored in 19 cans and seized three vehicles from the scene.
Three individuals were arrested: Sunil Kumar, the dhaba operator; Guddu, the tanker driver; and one other suspect. Investigations showed that the accused were stealing ethanol from a plant operated in Kashipur. The ethanol, which was meant for pharmaceutical companies, was instead being diverted for use in producing illegal liquor in Noida.
Following a complaint filed by STF Inspector Sachin Kumar, a case has been registered against the three arrested suspects, along with four others identified as Sukhvinder alias Sethi, Shahid, Bhup Singh, and Randhawa.
The dhaba is owned by Liyaqat Hussain, a resident of Jaspur, Uttarakhand, but was being operated under lease by Sunil Kumar. Police said Kumar has a prior record of involvement in illegal activities.
