Amid ongoing disruptions, IndiGo on Saturday announced that it will provide automatic refunds for all cancelled bookings and waive cancellation or rescheduling fees for travel scheduled between December 5 and 15.
In a post on X, the airline said passengers would receive refunds and fee waivers with “no questions asked.”
“No questions asked. In response to recent events, all refunds for your cancellations will be processed automatically to your original mode of payment,” the statement read.
IndiGo added that it would offer a full waiver on all cancellation and rescheduling requests for bookings between December 5 and December 15, 2025.
The airline also apologised for the inconvenience caused, saying, “We are deeply sorry for the hardships caused.”
Earlier in the day, the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) directed IndiGo to clear all pending passenger refunds immediately. The Ministry said in an official release that refunds for all cancelled or disrupted flights must be completed by 8:00 PM on Sunday, December 7.
The Ministry further instructed airlines not to impose rescheduling charges on passengers whose travel plans were affected by the disruptions. It warned that any delay or non-compliance in processing refunds would lead to swift regulatory action.
To strengthen passenger support, IndiGo has been ordered to establish dedicated assistance and refund facilitation cells. These units must proactively reach out to affected travellers and ensure refunds and alternative travel arrangements are handled without requiring repeated follow-ups. The automatic refund system will remain in place until operations are fully stabilised.
The Ministry also directed IndiGo to trace and deliver any baggage separated from passengers due to cancellations or delays within 48 hours, either to their homes or preferred addresses. Airlines are required to maintain clear communication about tracking and delivery timelines and to provide compensation as mandated under existing passenger rights rules.
Additionally, the Ministry said it had taken serious note of concerns over unusually high airfares charged by some airlines during the disruption. To prevent any form of opportunistic pricing, it invoked its regulatory authority to ensure fair and reasonable fares on all affected routes.
