Iran launched a retaliatory strike on Monday by firing at least six missiles at American military bases in Qatar, following U.S. airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities.
According to Axios, which cited an Israeli official, the missiles targeted US positions in Qatar. Both AFP and Reuters reported hearing explosions over Doha, the capital of Qatar.
There are no confirmed reports of casualties at this time. This marks Iran’s second-largest direct attack on US assets, following its 2020 missile strike in response to the killing of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commander General Qasem Soleimani.
Flares are now visible over Qatar’s capital Doha. It is not immediately known if it is the air defence system or missiles.
Loud explosions can also be heard.

The escalation comes after the United States entered the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran on Sunday. President Donald Trump authorized airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear sites in Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan. Tehran condemned the strikes, calling them a severe provocation that “crossed a big red line” and pledged retaliation.
In an official statement condemning the missile attack, Qatar confirmed that “no injuries or fatalities resulted from the assault.”
Fox News, citing U.S. sources, reported that the US military prepared for an Iranian attack on its bases, expected it, and was not surprised.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
