Modinagar, Jharkhand: During the Lok Sabha session that began on Monday, Palamu Member of Parliament (MP) Vishnu Dayal Ram raised the issue of establishing an ethanol distillery in Rehla, located in Bishrampur city.
Speaking under Rule 377, MP Ram informed the House that ample land is available in the Jharkhand State Industrial Area in Rehla, within his Palamu parliamentary constituency. He then requested Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, to consider setting up an ethanol distillery in Rehla, which falls under the Bishrampur block of the Palamu constituency. He emphasized to the House that Rehla is a suitable location for an ethanol distillery.
MP Ram highlighted that using rice to produce ethanol would not create any pollution concerns. He also pointed out that once the North Koel Project (Mandal Dam) is completed, there will be a sufficient water supply. Furthermore, he noted that by adding value to ethanol, products for both the agricultural and pharmaceutical industries could be created.
He informed the Lok Sabha that, apart from a caustic soda factory, Rehla lacks industrial activity. Establishing an ethanol distillery, he argued, would create employment opportunities for young people in the area. It is worth noting that the Palamu MP has been consistently working to bring industries to his constituency and has repeatedly voiced this need in Parliament.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, during his visit to inaugurate the four-lane Garhwa bypass on NH-39, had also previously mentioned the increasing demand for ethanol. At that time, he had also discussed the strong potential for establishing an ethanol production unit in the Palamu region.
