Kalaburagi, Karnataka: A protest was staged on Thursday in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Kalaburagi, led by former Aland BJP MLA Subhash Guttedar, demanding an inquiry into alleged election irregularities in the management board polls of the Bhusanur Cooperative Sugar Factory in Aland taluk. Following the demonstration, a petition outlining the concerns was submitted to the DC, reports The Times of India.
The petition alleged that election officials were behaving like party workers and were deliberately attempting to carry out irregularities to benefit a specific group. It sought a detailed investigation into the allegations and requested that the polls be conducted within the sugar factory premises. It also demanded that the factory’s Kalaburagi office be shifted back to the factory grounds.
Among the key demands were a review of the voter list, allowing farmers additional time to apply for inclusion of their names, permitting them to vote after paying any pending share amount, and strict enforcement of all election-related rules.
Former Zilla Panchayat vice-president Harshananda Guttedar, Chandrasekhara Hiremath, BJP rural district unit president Ashoka Bagali, and BJP leaders Ambaraya Ashtagi and Ravichandra Kanthikar took part in the protest.
