Karnal: The Karnal Cooperative Sugar Mill has processed 10.25 lakh quintals of sugarcane in 33 days during the ongoing 2025–26 crushing season, according to the mill’s managing director, Aditi. She said the mill’s current recovery rate stands at 9.60 per cent on a daily basis, while the cumulative recovery so far is 9.25 per cent. The mill has produced 85,540 quintals of refined sugar during this period, reports Amar Ujala.
She said the mill has also generated 12.4 crore units of electricity from its 18-megawatt cogeneration plant installed on the premises. Of this, 79.74 lakh units have been supplied to the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam, earning the mill an additional net income of Rs 5.06 crore.
The managing director said payments amounting to Rs 30.70 crore have been released to sugarcane farmers for cane supplied up to December 23. She added that the cooperative mill is currently operating at full technical capacity and is fully compliant with pollution control standards.
To control air pollution, the mill has installed a modern electrostatic precipitator on the boiler, she said. She also appealed to farmers to ensure the supply of clean and properly harvested sugarcane to help maintain efficiency and quality during the crushing season.
