Bengaluru: State government has fulfilled the promises made to the sugarcane farmers of providing additional financials assistance, said Karnataka Sugar Minister Shivanand Patil on Tuesday. Most farmers were satisfied with the assistance this year, PTI reported.
Responding to BJP MLC N Ravikumar during the Zero Hour in the Legislative Council, the minister said the government had taken several steps focused on farmers and was continuing to look at more ways to support both growers and sugar factories.
Patil said the government, led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, had extended support to sugarcane farmers more than once, which he described as a first in the stateтАЩs history, according to PTI.
He said the government had promised Rs 50 per tonne as financial aid, along with an additional Rs 50 per tonne contribution from sugar factories. тАЬWe have fulfilled that promise,тАЭ he told the House.
