Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin met today with Jamal Al Ghurair, President of Al Khaleej Sugar, to discuss the construction of a large-scale sugar plant in the Almaty region, reported Kazinform.
To initiate the project, the Kazakh Government and LLP QazaqArabSugar signed an investment agreement.
A road map has been approved, outlining financing through the Development Bank of Kazakhstan (JSC), allocation and expansion of a land plot, integration of the site into the Alatau Special Economic Zone (SEZ), development of engineering infrastructure, preparation of design specifications and estimates, and the plant’s construction.
The planned production capacity of the facility is 500,000 tons of sugar beet annually. There are also plans to develop and expand irrigated farmland for raw material cultivation.
The meeting also addressed timelines for construction, infrastructure development, and other organizational and technical matters.
Previously, First Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar met with a delegation from Hungary’s 4iG company.
