Hata: Sugarcane farmers in the Hata tehsil area of Kushinagar district will see the start of the 2025–26 crushing season at the Dhanda-based Awadh Sugar & Energy Limited New India Sugar Mill on 21 November. The information was shared by the mill’s Executive Officer, R.K. Gupta, during a programme attended by farmers and the media, reports Daily Bhaskar.
Gupta said the mill is fully prepared for this year’s crushing operations. The formal inauguration will take place at 1 pm on 21 November, with local public representatives, leaders and farmers expected to attend. He urged farmers to begin stripping their cane only after receiving the supply slip, and to bring fresh and clean cane to the mill.
He explained that this ensures proper recording of the cane’s weight and quality so that farmers receive the full benefit. Gupta warned that keeping cane for too long reduces its weight, which leads to financial loss for farmers. The mill administration has assured that payments to farmers will be made on time this year as well.
He reaffirmed that the mill will work with farmers with full transparency and cooperation. With the start of the crushing season, farmers in the district are hopeful of good returns and financial stability.
The mill management said all necessary arrangements for the season have already been completed to ensure smooth and efficient operations. Modern equipment will again be used this year, and farmers will receive the proper price for their cane. Sugarcane growers in Kushinagar are eagerly awaiting the start of crushing on 21 November.
