Dehradun: RBNS Sugar Mill in Laksar has issued its second sugarcane payment to farmers within just fifteen days. The mill management has released Rs. 32.65 crore to cooperative cane societies for cane purchased up to November 25, reported Amar Ujala.
Laksar sugar mill is currently in a better position regarding cane payments. In the district, the Iqbalpur sugar mill has not yet begun crushing this season, while the Libberheri sugar mill has started operations and has cleared payments up to November 20. Laksar Sugar Mill had earlier released ₹28.36 crore on November 21 for cane procured till November 15.
Within a fortnight, the mill has now cleared an additional ₹32.65 crore up to November 25. Unit Head S.P. Singh said the mill has always ensured timely payments to farmers, and regular, scheduled payments are being made in the ongoing crushing season as well.
He appealed to farmers to cooperate with the mill and supply clean, trash-free cane.
The crushing season at Laksar Sugar Mill began on November 7. By November 25, the mill had crushed 16.40 lakh quintals of cane, slightly lower than last season’s 16.73 lakh quintals.
