A leopard caused chaos in a residential neighborhood in Bhayandar East on Thursday morning, injuring at least three members of the same family. The wild animal reportedly entered homes on Talav Road, sparking panic among local residents.
Authorities confirmed that the big cat is currently confined within the Parijat building. The Mumbai Fire Brigade successfully rescued an injured girl from the premises and transported her to a hospital for urgent medical care.
Teams from the forest department, along with emergency responders, are actively working to capture the leopard safely. The Thane Territorial Forest Department dispatched a specialized rescue squad after receiving reports of the animal roaming in the residential area.

Deputy Conservator Sachin Repal advised residents to maintain a safe distance and avoid provoking the animal, warning that any confrontation could escalate human-wildlife conflict. Volunteers from the NGO SARRP-India are also supporting the forest officials at the scene, as reported by Mid-Day.
New updates indicate that the number of injured has risen to at least five. Footage shared on X by the handle “Gems of Mira Bhayandar” shows local residents and Mumbai Fire Brigade personnel rescuing a seriously injured woman from a house window where the leopard was trapped. The victims were stretchered to a nearby hospital for treatment of their injuries.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, urging residents to remain indoors until the leopard is safely captured.
