Mandya DC orders sugar mills to clear cane dues; warns of strict action for delays

Mysuru: Mandya Deputy Commissioner Kumar on Tuesday issued a firm directive to all sugar factories in the district, demanding they clear all pending payments to sugarcane growers without delay. He warned that strict action would be taken against any mills failing to comply, reports The Hindu.

The directive was given during a meeting at the DC’s office to review pressing issues affecting the local farming community.

In other developments, Kumar announced that a Detailed Project Report for a new boiler house at the MySugar Factory in Mandya has been submitted, and its installation will begin shortly.

Regarding the 400-year-old Chikka Devaraya Sagar (CDS) canal, the Deputy Commissioner stated that major development works are underway and appealed for farmers’ cooperation. He confirmed that a survey on crop losses from a recent canal breach in Srirangapatna is complete, with details uploaded to a compensation portal. “The compensation amount will soon be directly credited to the accounts of eligible beneficiaries,” he said.
