Mawana sugar mill pays Rs 18.80 crore to farmers for cane purchased in December

Mawana: Mawana Sugar Mill has transferred Rs 18.80 crore to farmers’ bank accounts as payment for sugarcane purchased over four days from December 16 to December 19 during the 2025–26 crushing season. The mill has also sent payment advisories to the concerned cooperative societies, reports Live Hindustan.

Since the start of the current crushing season, the mill has paid a total of Rs 223.01 crore directly into farmers’ bank accounts for sugarcane purchases. Up to December 29, 2025, Mawana Sugar Mill has crushed 68.87 lakh quintals of sugarcane. At present, the mill has outstanding dues equivalent to only 10 days of sugarcane payments.

Senior General Manager (Cane and Administration) Pramod Balian and Deputy General Manager (Cane) Hariom Sharma urged farmers to harvest sugarcane only after receiving SMS messages from the mill. They also asked farmers to supply clean and fresh sugarcane, free from roots, dry leaves, tops and green trash.

The officials advised farmers not to lodge harvested cane in the fields or supply it outside the scheduled turn. They also warned against placing advance cane at purchase centres, stating that the mill would not be responsible for any cane supplied in advance.
