July NY world sugar #11 (SBN25) Thursday closed up +0.10 (+0.59%), and August London ICE white sugar #5 (SWQ25) closed up +2.20 (+0.47%).
Sugar prices on Thursday recovered from early losses and posted moderate gains as short covering emerged on signs of smaller sugar output in Brazil. Unica reported Thursday that Brazil’s 2025/26 Center-South sugar production for the first half of May fell -6.8% y/y to 2.408 MMT and that cumulative 2025/26 Brazil Center-South sugar output through mid-May is down by -22.7% y/y to 3.989 MMT.
